How to make life fantastic with a good morning routine
Most people take the morning for granted. They get up, slog their way out of bed towards the coffee in the shower, and do all the minimal necessary things they need to do to start their day. Then head off to work. But let’s be honest, as they say, that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, the beginning of the day is the most important thing of the day that you need to deal with. The beginning of the day can set the tone for your whole day, and the tone of your day can change your life. If you look at millionaires and billionaires, you will find is of the most successful ones all have a scheduled morning routine that they do every day. So, here are a few things you can think about if you want to set yourself up with a fantastic day.
Get the sleep
Unless you get enough sleep, you just aren’t going to have a good day no matter what. You’re going to be slow and unhappy and tired for most of the day. Coffee can only take you so far. So instead of patching up what you failed to do, just get a good night sleep of at least eight hours. You may think you need less than eight hours, but all the signs in the world will tell you that you need at least eight hours. There are studies that show that if you even get one hour less, such as seven hours a night, at the end of the week you are suffering the same sleep deprivation as if you had an all-nighter and stayed up all night. You may not feel it, but your performance will reflect it. So, get enough sleep.
Give yourself enough time
Although it may be difficult to get to bed a little bit earlier than you normally do, you need to plan out that eight hours of sleep. You also need to plan out getting up earlier than you expect. If you have to leave for work at 8 o’clock in the morning, don’t plan on waking up at 7: 45. Give yourself enough time in the morning to actually enjoy your morning. The morning is a whole section of the day that is ignored, it is usually just rushed through without thought. So instead of doing that get up a little bit earlier and give yourself time to do things in the morning that you may not think about, and you’ll find it sets a good tone for the whole day.
Exercise and stretch
Even if you don’t want to do a full gym workout in the morning, though of course, it would be great if you did, just doing some simple exercises and stretches for 15 minutes will do wonders to get your body going. This will signal your body and your brain that you’re ready to start. Just doing a few jumping jacks, stretches, and push-ups will take you further than you would believe.
Do not work
As much as you may think you should get up and get work done, don’t work. Don’t make business calls, read business emails or prep for anything to do with your day of work. You need to take this time for yourself, for you. Don’t ruin your morning by wasting it preparing for a day of work that you’re going to be doing anyway.
Meditate if you can
If you know how to meditate, then spend some time meditating every day. The morning is the best time to do this. It can set another great tone for the day. If you don’t know how to meditate, you can find many good guides on mindful meditation online. Just try doing a simple meditation for a couple of minutes every morning, and you can do that? Only a couple of minutes? You can work yourself up to five minutes, 10 minutes, or 15 minutes, but if you do it every single day, you’ll find that you will wonder how you existed without it.
Spend time on important things
Take your coffee in the garden and just enjoy the outside, or if you have a family, spend some time with your family before you had to work. Look at what’s important to you that you wish to do, and do it in the morning. You find it’s a big change from trying to do it when you get home and you’re tired from working all day and burned out.
It may be a bit difficult to try and change your whole day so that you’re doing things in the morning for yourself instead of the evening, but if you think about it only just makes sense. When you come home from work, as we said you’re burned out and tired, so you really don’t want to do anything anyway. By the time you have regained any energy, it’s late, and then you’re late to bed, and tired in the morning, and the cycle continues. The best thing you can do is do things in the morning, it will change the way you look at your day. You might find your day to be a lot less exhausting as well as your stepping into it ready as opposed to rushed.
